Best Ice Makers (Sep 2026)

Nugget is chewable and melts slowly in drinks, clear cubes last longest, bullet ice is cheapest and fastest.

Budget 1 kg per person for entertaining. Countertop units typically make 12-15 kg per day.

Countertop models have a reservoir you refill; undercounter and commercial units usually need plumbing and drainage.

Expect 40-50 dB. Nugget makers run a motor continuously, which is louder than a cube maker cycling on and off.

Monthly descaling and a full drain if unused for a week. Slimy residue comes from standing water, not the ice.

Dissolved air and minerals. Filtered water and a slower freeze cycle give clearer cubes.
