How We Rate

Every guide on Handpicked Reviews is owned by one editor who covers a single category. This page explains what we compare, how a score is produced, and what we deliberately do not do. Where the products come from We start from the current Amazon catalogue: the models that are actually in stock, carry a brand and a price, and ship to the United States. A brand cannot buy a place on a page, and no ranking has ever been changed for a commercial reason. When a model leaves the catalogue or its listing quality drops, we drop it and promote the next candidate. The four criteria behind every score Fit. Does the product do the job its own listing claims, for the buyer it is aimed at. Claim honesty. Whether the specification matches what documentation and verified buyer feedback report in use. Overstated range, capacity or coverage costs points. Value signals. Price against the nearest comparable model, plus the running cost: filters, blades, cards, subscriptions. Buyer experience. Warranty length, how reachable support actually is, and the pattern of complaints that repeat across reviews. How a ranking is built Scores are weighted, then re-checked whenever price or availability changes materially. The top pick is not the most expensive or the best-selling product; it is the one that survives the criteria for the widest range of buyers. That is why every guide names a runner-up: the second pick is usually the right answer for a shopper whose constraints differ from the average. What we do not do We do not run a laboratory, and we never claim that we did. No page on this site says a product was physically tested unless that test happened. We do not accept payment for placement, and we do not rank a product we cannot verify against a live listing. We do not publish a score for a product with no price, no availability and no verifiable specification. Prices, dates and corrections Prices in a guide are the ones we saw when that entry was last checked, and every guide carries its publication date. Amazon prices move daily, so treat our figure as a reference rather than a quote. If you find an error, whether a discontinued model, a claim we got wrong or a price that is far off, tell us through the contact page. We correct the entry, and we would rather hear it from a reader than not at all. Who writes the guides Each of our editors owns one category and signs the guides in it. The byline at the top of every guide links to that editor's profile, where you can see their category and everything they have published. The full roster is on the experts page. Affiliate disclosure Handpicked Reviews earns a commission when a reader buys through some of the links on this site. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not influence a ranking: the criteria above are applied before any link is added. When a product's price or availability changes enough to alter a ranking, we update the guide and the publication date stays as it was.
