Trampolines FAQ
Pick by the real weight rating, then by mat diameter, in that order. A wide frame with thin-gauge steel and a light mat will not hold a stated capacity once several people bounce at once. Ask what the rating covers: a single jumper, or simultaneous use. If your household jumps together, that rating decides the size.
Level ground, no overhead branches, and room around the frame. A frame set on a slope loads a single side of the mat and a single spring set harder than the other, and that side wears first. Check the entry height for the youngest jumper before assembly. Thinner tube flexes more on uneven ground, so if the ground cannot be levelled, stop there.
Judge it by the mat and the springs, not the frame color. A mat with weak UV resistance goes brittle long before the frame gives up, and springs that lose tension make the bounce feel dead while the frame still looks fine. If the bounce changed underfoot after a hard season, suspect the springs first.
Replace by inspection, not by calendar. Springs, mats and pads are the consumables; frame tube rarely is. Check in daylight on a dry mat, because after a wet week every spring looks stretched. Any of those failing, frayed stitching, stretched hooks, flattened pads, is the trigger, not a set date.
Buy for the mat and the spring set, because those are what you will replace. A cheap frame with a good mat outlasts a heavy frame with a light mat; the frame is usually the last part to fail. Budget for a mat and a spring set over the life of the unit, and confirm replacements are still sold for the model you pick.
Check which parts the warranty names before assembly: mat, springs, pads and frame often sit on different terms, and the mat is the one that fails first, so if it is excluded the warranty is worth little to you. Keep the receipt and the model number. We publish no shortlist here, since the verifiable data covers frame gauge, mat and spring quality and the real weight rating, not enough to rank models.
